Ofosu Antwi Prince, Communication Team member, E/R. A nurse by Profession

Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life.

Despite the glitters of this noble profession, there are some conditions which many people would never wish to go through.

Let me share a few with you..

  1. You will never have time of your own as leisure, you are always occupied yet still some superiors speak nonsense. Doesn’t matter whether you are a trainee or staff.
  2. You will keep on loosing friends ,loved ones and families due to unexplained reasons.
  3. You will be busy even at the time of prayers, no more Sundays,no more Sallah celebrations or Christmas nor new year.
  4. You will love your patients more than anyone not even your wife ,husband or fiancee .
  5. Your priority always is to see that your
    patients are in comfort.
  6. You will buy a nice car but always parked inside the hospital.
  7. You will build a very nice house but always on call and night duties in the hospital.
  8. You will buy very expensive clothes but always in uniforms.
  9. You will always buy expensive perfumes but live under the antiseptics of the hospital.
  10. You can be assaulted by patients relatives for not saving their loved ones despite trying your best.
  11. Spent sleepless nights reading just to ensure somebody is safe not knowing his or her religion, tribe, ethnicity or religion but all what we know is his health.
  12. You are humiliated by the patients, client relatives and the Authority but never fight back all in the name Nursing been a noble profession.
  13. You cry at home and smile in the hospital while hiding your tears.
  14. You put smile on people’s face while you have pain and sorrow in your heart.
  15. You save people’s life while you endangered yours.
  16. You sit down reading law (pharmacological) as if you are a lawyer.
