Sorry Chelsea as Manchester United seeking to sign exciting defender this summer

Manchester United are tracking young Chelsea defender Reece James, according to recent reports.

The right-back has been on loan at Championship side Wigan this season and could be a potential replacement for Antonio Valencia, who is all set to leave the club after failing to agree a new contract with the Manchester giants.

Valencia is coming towards the backend of his playing days at the top of the game and United are eyeing up a number of replacements, as they seek to revamp the squad and push on for a chance of winning the Premier League title next season.

And according to reports on the Daily Mail, the full-back, who has played 43 times for Wigan this campaign and was named in the Championship Team of the Year, is valued at £15m and would be open to leaving Chelsea in the summer if he is not guaranteed a chance in the Chelsea squad next season.

The Blues have a number of talents currently out on-loan which have not even played for the Chelsea since they signed, which has become a problem as talents do no longer wants a move to Chelsea just to be sent somewhere else for the next four years.

James’ sister Lauren already plays for United and helped then win the Women’s Championship title this year, and could convince the talent to leave Chelsea in the coming months.

Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in world football, but they have a reputation of not giving the younger generation a chance in the first side, meaning that a number of talents could look to leave the club.

And United will try to complete a transfer deal for James as he is showing the kind of potential they need to help refresh the side, and for £15 million, he could be seen as a real bargain for the club.

However, with Chelsea facing a transfer ban, this could be the perfect opportunity for James to head back to Stamford Bridge and try to make an impact on the Chelsea side, especially as they need to improve the back-line.
