Effects of Covid-19 on Sports Industry

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to progress worldwide, many are trying to better understand how the virus is affecting everyday life.

Covid-19 as declared by WHO as pandemic has affected over 2,329,000 people, over 160,000 death record and over 595,000 recovered. Scientists are finding all ways to get rid of this virus.

This virus has really affected almost all activities including public health, public movement, the economy and most of it all the sports industry across the globe.

Sports has also had its fair share of the effects of this virus as all sporting activities have been put on hold since the first week of March, 2020

The pandemic has now deprive almost all European countries of its major leagues, most leagues has either been cancelled or suspended till further notice and the world at large.

The main source of income for professional sports is usually from television rights, which are based on a contract with legal conditions.

Surely, the final impact cannot be foreseen right now because, logically, it is still unsure if sports competitions, both in Spain and in the rest of the world, are going to take place and fin with the structure and forecast that existed when the calendar was prepared at the beginning of the season.

In the end, the preparation, execution and broadcasting of these matches has end up happening causing a zero impact in the football industry. Therefore, in professional sports, the economic impact, for the moment, is expected to be limited.
