Groups and Individuals who has Contribute to the Convid-19 Fund

Following the outbreak of this pandemic Convid-19 in the global world and its continuous increase across nations including Ghana, the Parliament of Ghana on Thursday 2nd April 2020 passed the Convid-19 National Trust Fund Bill under a certificate of urgency after it was laid in the house by Attorney General. The trust will receive donations for disbursement and also make provisions for how the trust should be managed.

The Bill, when assented by the President into law, will give legal backing to the establishment of the COVID-19 National Trust Fund to complement the efforts of government in the fight against the disease after it was set up by the government last week which will be chaired by former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, is to receive public contributions to help improve the lives of the vulnerable who will be worst-hit by the pandemic.

The other members of the Board of trustees of the Fund are Archbishop Justice Ofei Akrofi, Jude Kofi Bucknor, Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, Elsie Addo-Awadzie, Dr. Ernest Ofori-Sarpong, and Dr Tanko Collins Asare will act as Secretary to the Board.

The President, while inaugurating the Board at a brief ceremony at Jubilee House two days after the Fund’s establishment noted that since the outbreak of the virus in Ghana, organisations and individuals have made donations, with others wanting to find out how they can also contribute to the cause and felt the best way was to establish a public trust so that the monies that come do not get intermingled with Government money and all of those problems.

Group and Individuals who has made a Donation to the Fund include

President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia started by donated three months of thier salaries to the trust.

All Ministers of State and other top appointees at the presidency also voluntarily decided to donate 50 percent of their salary.

Parliament has also contributed GHS 200,000 with the Speaker of the House, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye also donating half of his three months’ salary to the fund.

Lebanese community in Ghana presented an amount of GHc 2,150,000.00

Apostolic Church, Ghana, also donated GHc 70,000.00 to the cause.

The Christ Apostolic Church International contributed GHc 100,000.00, Melcom Ghana Limited gave GHc 100,000.00 to the Fund.

Rocksure International, a mining and construction firm, presented an amount of Ghc 50,000.00

Karpowership Ghana Company Limited gave the sum of GHc 300,000.00.

Oswald Limited, also donated GHC 250,000.00

The International Central Gospel Church presented a sum of GHc100,000.00

Interplast Ghana Limited, has donated GHc 1,200,000.00

Justmoh Construction Limited presented GHc 500,000.00

Hollard Ghana, an insurance company gave GHC 100,000.

The Majority Caucus in Parliament, led by Majority Leader Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu and Majority Whip Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh, gave GH¢ 100,000.00

Indian High Commissioner to Ghana Sugandh Rajaram and President of Indian Community in Ghana Rajesh Thakker, donated GH¢375,001.00.

Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited gave GH¢ 100,000.00

Commercial Quarry Operators Association of Ghana presented GH¢ 10,000.00.

National Investment Bank gave GH¢ 185,000.00

Deeper Life Bible Church, led by Pastor Douglas Ocran, gave GH¢ 20,000.00

The public is therefore advised to follow the health protocols as outlined including, frequent washing of hands with soap under running water, use of alcohol based hand sanitizers, properly disposing of tissues after use and also ensuring the social distancing protocol.
